Happy Wednesday! It’s a busy week in August with a few annual favorites on the agenda. Let’s get to it! Here’s what you can find happening in Duluth this week:
Thursday August 9 - join the Northern Lights Foundation, the Duluth Police Department and the Duluth Fire Department for the 11th Annual Guns & Hoses Softball Game at Wade Stadium! It’s a family-friendly softball game for the community that raises funds for local children facing life-threatening illnesses. Enjoy live police and fire demos and displays, interactive games, great raffles and concessions! Activities begin at 5pm.
Friday, Saturday, & Sunday this week – Thomas and Percy are at the North Shore Scenic Railroad for another weekend of fun and rides! Day Out With Thomas is always a favorite - there's nothing quite riding your favorite train along the shores of Lake Superior. Head to northshorescenicrailroad.org to get the details and find tickets.
Also, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday – the 30th Annual Bayfront Blues Festival takes over Bayfront Festival Park! It’s one of the oldest and largest annual outdoor music events held in the upper Midwest. Each year nearly 20,000 fans are treated to 30 different acts on two full-size concert stages featuring the nation's top names in the blues world. Ticket info at bayfrontblues.com.
Saturday & Sunday - the Kraus-Anderson Bike Duluth Festival brings tons of family fun on the trails to Spirit Mountain. It’s two days of racing, adventure rides, demos, and kids activities. The festival is also a major fundraiser for COGGS and the Gary New Duluth Recreation Area – so you can ride while also giving back! More info at bikeduluthfestival.com.
Saturday Night, head to Skyline Lanes and Volleyball for Band in the Sand! The Burning Verns will open at 6:30pm with The Johnny Holm Band taking over at 9:00pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. There will be a sandy dance floor with seating in the back courts, complete with beer trailers and food! Ladies should probably avoid wearing heels for this sandy concert :)
