Happy Wednesday! So I know I always say we have a busy week ahead – but this weekend might take the cake! We have two major events overlapping on Sunday that will make for a busy waterfront, but we are ready and excited for all the visitors. Here’s a look at what you can find happening in Duluth this week:
Glensheen kicks off their August Wednesday night series tonight (August 7) – Wine Wednesdays! Drink and learn about wine while enjoying the beautiful lakeside estate. This event is FREE to attend and is open to the public – the wine workshop runs from 7:30-8pm, but the event begins at 6pm.
Also, tonight (August 7), the 11th Annual Guns and Hoses Softball Game takes over Wade Stadium. Duluth Police and Duluth Fire go head-to-head to raise money for the Northern Lights Foundation, a non-profit that provides financial support to families with children battling life-threatening diseases. This a family-friendly event for all ages and includes lots of fun beyond softball. The event runs from 5-9pm. Tickets are $5.
Thursday, August 8 – it’s another week of Music in the Hart. #TheIndianHeadband takes the stage at Gitchi-ode’ Akiing this week. This event is FREE and runs from 4:30-6:30pm. Check the Greater Downtown Council’s website for a look at upcoming acts.
And Friday, August 9 – it’s another week of Movies in the Park! Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse starts at 8:35pm at Leif Erikson Park. Another FREE event!
Friday also kicks off a big weekend at Bayfront Festival Park. Bayfront Blues Festival is celebrating 31 years on the waterfront with three days of great music on two separate stages. Headliners this year include Bobby Rush, Ana Popovic, and The Kentucky Headhunters. The fest runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – get tickets, here.
Saturday, August 10, art lovers should head to Brighton Beach for the Lake Superior Art Festival. 40 artists are participating in this 6th annual festival and shopping, walking, and viewing will run from 9am-4pm. Check out their Facebook Page for more information.
And finally, Sunday, August 11, the tall ships return to Duluth for the 2019 Festival of Sail! This first day of the festival overlaps with the final day of Blues Fest, so please be aware there will likely be some congestion around the waterfront. Festival of Sail kicks off with the Parade of Sail Sunday 9-11am, ship tours and day sails follow through Tuesday. Get all the details on tickets, ships attending, and a schedule of events on the Festival of Sail Duluth website.
Head to our Event Calendar to see more fun coming up in Duluth – we hope to see you soon!
