Happy Wednesday once again! September is right around the corner and so is a lot of fun in Duluth. Here’s a look at what you can find happening in Duluth this week:
Thursday, August 30 is the kickoff of the 32nd Annual Duluth Superior Pride Festival! The Mayor’s Reception is at the Depot at 5pm, then the fun and celebration continues all Labor Day Weekend! The schedule includes art exhibitions, a block party, the Hummingbird Family 5k, the actual festival at Bayfront, the "Foo Foo Choo Choo," a drag show, parade – and that’s just a sampling! Head to dspride.com for a full schedule of events.
Friday, August 31, the Large Lakes Observatory invites the public aboard the Research Vessel Blue Heron to learn more about large lakes worldwide and the research they do during LLO Science on Deck. The vessel will be docked near the Great Lakes Aquarium from 12-4pm.
Also Friday, check out the latest happenings in Duluth’s art scene during the monthly Downtown Duluth Arts Walk! Enjoy art exhibits, gallery talks, art demonstrations, musical performances at more than two dozen locations downtown. It all begins at 5pm and you can get the full details on the Downtown Duluth Arts Walk Facebook Page.
Monday is Labor Day, of course! A few ways to celebrate? Head just outside of Duluth to Cloquet for their 99th annual Labor Day Parade at 11am or head to Bayfront Festival Park for the Duluth Central Labor Body’s Labor Day Picnic from 12-4pm.
And heading to Wednesday, September 5 at 6pm, Glensheen kicks off their September Wednesday night series - Chef in the Garden! Each week, a local chef will showcase different recipes using vegetables from the Glensheen's Vegetable Garden. The event is free and open to the public. Small samples will be served. Yum!
