Happy Wednesday, folks! School is back in session, but we have a lot of fun events coming up in Duluth this week. Plus, a few changes in Canal Park that you should check out this month! We’ll start there!
If you head down to Canal Park to catch a ship coming in, stroll the Lakewalk, or grab a bite – you’ll notice a few changes. Thanks to a grant that is helping us "re-imagine" our city, a few pilot projects are taking place during the month of September. A couple things you’ll see? More places to sit and enjoy Canal Park! The Lighthouse Parking Lot will be turned into an interactive and fun “pop up” community park space for two weeks from September 4-17. And a temporary pedestrian plaza will be created for the month of September on Buchanan Street that will incorporate additional seating options and host events.
More signage will help you find your way, and traffic changes on Lave Ave will allow you to turn on Morse Street if you get “bridged.” AND ONE MORE THING - the Free DTA trolley will continue to run through the month of September, 7 days a week, 11:30am-7:30pm. You can learn more about the projects and also provide feedback on the website for Imagine Duluth.
Looking for some fun tonight, Wednesday, September 5? Head to Pier B Resort for Rooftop Wednesdays with Déjá vu Drifters or check out Glensheen’s September Wednesday night series – Chef in the Garden.
Saturday, September 8 is the second Saturday of the month and that means it’s time for the Nice Girls of the North’s monthly marketplace! At the Lester Park Community Center from 10am-3pm, you’ll find all kinds of treats, handcrafted clothing, jewelry, photography, and other goods, all created my local, female artists. Great place to get some birthday or holiday shopping done! They have one central checkout and major credit cards are accepted. Learn more about the Nice Girls, here.

Also, on Saturday, Bayfront Festival Park hosts the 25th Annual Harvest Festival! From 10am-4pm, you can enjoy a Farmers Market, live music, energy fair, live demos, handmade crafts, educational exhibits, and lots of food. This is a family-friendly festival and admission is FREE!
