Find It In Duluth

May 15, 2019: Find It In Duluth!

We have tons of live music for you to enjoy this weekend, plus some awesome deals at downtown businesses!

Happy Wednesday! We’ve had a week of beautiful, warm weather. Things are certainly starting to green-up here in Duluth. Spring truly is here! And there is plenty of fun to find around town this week -  let's take a look!

The Greater Downtown Council is celebrating Get Downtown Week through Saturday, May 18 and that means buy-one-get-one deals at a ton of downtown businesses. Now, you may know there is a little construction project on Superior Street right now – but don’t worry! Businesses are open, as are the sidewalks! Plus, parking in several ramps is free for the first hour. So really, no good excuse to not "get downtown!" Please, go show some love to those businesses in the construction zone and beyond. Superior Street is currently closed from just east of Lake Avenue to 3rd Avenue East and you can stay up-to-date on construction at superiorstreet.org.

And while we are talking construction, let’s talk Lakewalk restoration. Work is already underway to help repair our beautiful Lakewalk, but more work needs to be done. You can help with a t-shirt fundraiser through Gitch Gear. For a limited time, 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of their "Lake-walk with me" shirts will go toward the restoration. Find the shirts at Canal Park Brewing Company, Trailfitters, or online at gitchgear.com. As for the status of the Lakewalk - you’ll still be able to use parts of the path this summer. Currently you can use the gravel path in Canal Park to Fitger’s, where work is being done now. You’ll be able to hop back on the Lakewalk further north. But keep in mind this could all change, we'll keep you posted as soon as we hear updates. You can also check the City's website and follow the Friends of the Lakewalk on Facebook.

Sacred Heart Music Center is a busy place this weekend! And if you’ve never been – it is a beautiful concert venue. Friday, May 17, they’ll host a benefit concert for the Music Resource Center, featuring Alan Sparhawk and student artists. Saturday, the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir comes to perform, and Sunday, folks can enjoy an evening with Charlie Parr and Phil Cook. Get all the details on the Sacred Heart Music Center Facebook Page.

Also, this weekend, Saturday kicks off an annual 8-day music and art festival – Duluth Dylan Fest! Every year Duluth celebrates Bob Dylan’s work and influence with a week of concerts, art shows, and all-things Dylan. It’s a lot of fun and all music and art lovers are welcome. Take a look at the full schedule at bobdylanway.com.

As always, we can’t fit everything in this weekly blog, so be sure to head to our Event Calendar to find more fun happening in Duluth this week. We hope to see you soon!

Happy Adventuring!
