Happy Wednesday and the eve of MEA Weekend! Most children in Minnesota are off school Thursday and Friday this week – that means families have a long weekend to enjoy all that Duluth has to offer. Here’s a look at some of the fun they can find this week:
The Great Pumpkin Train of the North Shore Scenic Railroad runs Thursday through Sunday, with five excursions daily. This is for one weekend only! All tickets for the Pumpkin Train include the excursion, admission into the museum, a pumpkin of your choice, live music, magic shows, an inflatable slide, face-painting, balloon twisting, and tons of fun. Be sure to reserve your tickets! Get all the details here.
Glensheen Mansion is gearing up for the long weekend with extended hours. They will be open until 8pm Thursday-Saturday. This is also the last weekend to check out their Gowns of Glensheen Exhibit. AND don’t forget – you can participate in the Great Glensheen Pumpkin Hunt while you are touring. Learn more.
The Caddy Shack, located in the Lincoln Park Craft District, is celebrating their Grand Opening Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19. They are a pub that also offers indoor golf. A recent renovation has them ready to celebrate this weekend with live music, free simulator demos, food samples, and drink specials. Check out their Facebook Page for more information.
Boo at the Zoo is back for another Saturday at the Lake Superior Zoo! Dress up the kids and enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the zoo, plus kids’ activities, food trucks, games, and Halloween-themed treats for the animals. Get ticket information on their website.
Menopause The Musical hits the DECC Symphony Hall stage at 3pm on Sunday, October 20. This is a hilarious musical parody set to classic tunes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s – tickets are still available on Ticketmaster!
Also on Sunday, Lake Superior Art Glass is hosting their 2nd Annual Pumpkin Patch Party with help from Wild State Cider. It will be a festive evening of pumpkin-making, cider-tasting, and glassblowing demonstrations! Their glassblowers will create custom pumpkins for customers who can request their own colors and shape. Reserve your spot online.
And Tuesday, October 22 is the annual Duluth Senior Expo, now called the GO Show! GO stands for getting older. The expo will feature a day of information and fun including over 100 exhibitors with information on healthcare, insurance, living options, travel, financial planning, recreation, and travel. The show runs from 9am-2pm at the DECC. Check their website for all the details.
