Happy Thursday! And it’s the final Thursday of August! Kids are heading back to school and you might be getting back into that routine, but if you’re looking for some fun – don’t worry, you’ll still find plenty to do in Duluth this week. Let’s take a look:

First up, since August is wrapping up – this week means a few free weekly events are also wrapping up. Enjoy these weekly series one last time:

Thursday, August 29 is the kick-off of the annual Duluth Superior Pride celebration! The Mayor’s Reception at the Depot begins at 5pm and is the official start of the weekend’s festivities. Events, including the festival at Bayfront, the Pride Parade, and Foo Foo Choo Choo train ride, run through Sunday, September 1. Get the details here.

Friday, the UMD Large Lakes Observatory will open up their research vessel, the Blue Heron, for public tours and a listening session. LLO Science on Deck runs from 12-4pm with a Great Lakes presentation at 3:15pm. The vessel will be docked in the harbor near the Great Lakes Aquarium. More info.

Also Friday, August 30 – Lake Superior Ribfest takes over Bayfront Festival Park for an evening of food, fun, and music. Rib flavors include original, buffalo ranch, sweet porketta, Jamaican jerk, California garlic, habanero mango, and more! Samples are $2 each. Check out their Facebook Event for all the details.

Sunday is Labor Day and the annual Duluth Labor Day Picnic, organized by Duluth AFL-CIO, will once again be held at Bayfront Festival Park. From 12-4pm, enjoy free food, beverages, music, political guests, and activities for kids. All are welcome!

Have a great and safe Labor Day Weekend – and as always, we hope to see you soon!

Happy Adventuring!
