Jan 1st- Jan 2nd: Bentleyville "Tour of Lights"
Time: Open daily from 5 pm-10 pm
Bentleyville “Tour of Lights” is coming to Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park. Santa will visit children every day from Saturday, November 28 – Wednesday December 23. Children 10 and younger will receive the Bentleyville Tour of Lights knit hat from Santa along with a bag of cookies. Free hot beverages and cookies will be served from the Cookie House, popcorn will be served free of charge from the Pop Corn Box and marshmallows can be picked up at the Marshmallow Hut and roasted at any one of 15 fire pits. The large venue at Bayfront Festival Park will allow for a grander light display, more fire pits for roasting marshmallows, a completely handicapped accessible display with more parking for the disabled. Regional music groups will perform every Friday & Saturday night from 7 pm – 9 pm. Bentleyville is made up of a volunteer based board of directors, staff and dedicated volunteers working year-round to plan and organize this spectacular holiday light display. So come join us and stroll through Bentleyville’s holiday light display at Bayfront Festival Park. Enjoy the sounds of the holiday season and watch the faces of children light up with excitement!

Kick off Split Rock Lighthouse's 100th birthday at a special event to introduce art, collectibles, souvenirs and other items all designed to spotlight the centennial celebration and provide lasting mementos of the occasion. An original commemorative watercolor painting by artist Jim Povich will be unveiled and first edition posters will be available. Split Rock Lighthouse, built to guide ships in some of the world's most treacherous waters, opened in 1910. Special events and activities throughout 2010 will celebrate the lighthouse's centennial. A Hartley instructor will set you up with skis, boots and poles, and give you basic cross country ski instruction before heading out onto the Hartley trails. After the lesson is over you are welcome to use your skis for the rest of the day! There is a special price for this program as it involves equipment rental: Members are $10 and nonmembers are $18. You must have a Minnesota Ski Pass if you are 16 years old or older. The historic 390 mile Beargrease is the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states and a prequalifying race to the Iditarod. International mushers and their teams brave the rugged terrain and elements of Minnesota's North Shore trails from Duluth to the Canadian Border and then back to Duluth. Fitger's is the official race week headquarters. Race events include the Beargrease Gala Dinner, Cutest Puppy Contest, Opening Ceremonies and the Beargrease Race Start. All events are open to the public. Visitors are welcome at the race checkpoints - Two Harbors, Beaver Bay, Finland, Tofte for the Mid Distance Race Finish, Sawbill, Devil Track, the Gunflint Trail's, Trail Center and Billy's for the Marathon Finish.
