Jun 1st- Jun 19th: "Imprints" 2010 Earthday Show
Time: 1 pm – 6 pm Friday-Sunday & by appointment
Earthday has kaleidoscopic meanings. Earthday’s purpose was to bring attention to the concept of exercising responsible stewardship for our natural environment. The human footprint in the 20th century had resulted in degradation, devastation, and poisoning of the water, earth and air we depend on for life, and the burgeoning environmental movement sounded an alarm. Four decades later, while continuing to remediate the damage than has been and is still being done, the time is ripe to move beyond simply doing no harm. “Imprint” is about leaving positive human traces on the earth. It focuses on ways that we interact creatively with the natural world. Through recreation, meditation, cultivation, imagination, and appreciation, the artists of the Northern Printmakers Alliance present their own kaleidoscopic vision of how we may gently synchronize our own rhythms with that of the full spectrum of life on the planet. Held at Northern Prints Gallery, 318 North 14th Ave. East (across the avenue from the Burrito Union), Duluth. Free and open to the public.
