Sep 1st: Big Top Chautauqua present's "Big Top by Request"
Time: 7:30 pm
Last year we asked our fans to tell us which songs were their favorites from the last 25 years of Big Top Chautauqua musicals and Blue Canvas Orchestra originals. We had lots of responses from fans far and wide. We’ll start there and give you all another chance to weigh in on your favorites before New First Night. If we can figure out this Twitter thing, you might even be able to vote for your favorites during the live show – but no promises. Join the Blue Canvas Orchestra as they perform the music you’ve identified as the best of the best. Will you hear “Riding the Wind?”, “Backyard Blues?” “Moon Shadow?” “The Water’s Fine?” “That one about the messed up hair on the Amtrack train?” Stay tuned! Tickets: $22/$11. Event is held at the Big Top Chautauqua on Mt. Ashwabay in Bayfield, WI.

Sep 1st: Big Top Chautauqua present's "That 1 Guy Family Matinee"
Time: 10:30 am
“Funky Bean,” “Buttmachine,” “Mustaches and Laser Beams” – it reads like a page out of a Dr. Seuss book. But for Mike Silverman, better known as That 1 Guy, it is just the reality he was searching for. At up to 200 live shows each year, people gather to see this mad scientist at work, plugging an electric chord into the heel of a cowboy boot and transforming it into an instrument. What is that 7 foot collection of swiveling pipes and metal gears he’s playing? Why, that is the Magic Pipe constructed from junk by Mike himself. He was a great hit last year with all ages. We’re excited to welcome him back to the Big Top stage! Tickets: $5 (includes $2 canvas fee per ticket, WI Sales Tax does apply). Event is held at the Big Top Chautauqua on Mt. Ashwabay in Bayfield, WI.

Sep 22nd: Beaners Central Concert Coffeehouse presents: Doug & Telisha
Time: 8:00 pm
The popular Americana music duo, Doug & Telisha, bring their show to Duluth on Saturday, September 22, when they perform a concert at Beaner's Central - www.beanerscentral.com. They offer dead right, honest songwriting delivered in a hauntingly beautiful yet gritty, neo-traditional Americana wrapper. Doug and Telisha write songs about a place where old time religion, superstition, run down bars, gravel parking lots and boarded up factories all mingle together. On stage they have a stunning charisma that can transform a raucous bar into a quiet listening room, with even the most jaded hipsters waiting for the next line before ordering another PBR, then launch right into a blistering rocker that will have everyone clapping and singing along. Quick wit and fearless delivery make every show original and personal.
