The seasons are changing here in Duluth and with the change comes brilliantly colored fall leaves. The unique climatic effect of the world’s largest freshwater lake creates a colorful palate in the Duluth region lasting mid-September through late October.
FALL COLORS - EVENTS
September 19th - 21st: Hawk Weekend Festival
Time: varies by day and event
Celebrate the magnificent fall migration during our annual Hawk Weekend Festival. View the migration at Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve, see live bird demos, attend birding field trips & workshops, and join us in the evenings for great food, auction and special guest speakers. Held at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory. Call (218) 428-6209
September 20th: Annual Fall Festival at Chester Bowl
Time: 9:30 am-4:30 pm
There will be over 100 booths featuring crafts, fresh local produce and tasty fall foods. One of the most popular attractions is the farmers market, with hand dipped caramel apples, fresh pressed apple cider and locally grown sweet corn. Children will enjoy pony rides and the new playground. The park stage will feature live entertainment throughout the day. Admission is $2.00, with all proceeds going towards youth ski program. September 27th: Lester River Rendezvous
Time: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Enjoy arts, crafts, food, games, and live music. Come to the Voyageur Village inside the Lester Rover Rendezvous and learn about blacksmithing, shoe making, leather tanning, flute making, horn working, and safe fire starting. Park your car and ride the free Rendezvous Express Train Shuttle with stops at 26th Avenue East, 46th Avenue East and 61st Avenue East. Rain date is September 28th.

View gorgeous fall colors on the grounds of the historic Glensheen estate, and bring in an Autumn-colored leaf for $2 OFF a Standard Tour!

Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad
Ride the Scenic St. Louis River Railroad
The ride follows the last six miles of the 1870's track of the first train into Duluth, the original Lake Superior & Mississippi. The train traces the St. Louis River providing excellent viewing of nature, wildlife, and fall colors!
Saturdays & Sundays at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm until October 12, 2014. Adults: $13.50, Children: $8.00
North Shore Scenic Railroad
Fall Colors Train to Two Harbors
Enjoy the changing colors as you travel to historic Two Harbors, Minnesota. This is a six - hour trip up the North Shore to Two Harbors with a two-hour layover.
Friday, Saturday Sunday starting September 19th.
Adults: $35.00, Children: $20.00. Reservations suggested as there is limited seating.
