Summer Lovin’

It’s no secret Duluth has something for everyone in the summer. The trails and patios are open, the ships are cruising in and out of the harbor, and art and music are all around. Hit the lake for a day on the water or shop around one of Duluth’s neighborhoods. Do it all or do nothing at all – that’s the beauty of life by the lake.

The Lake

Call it Lake Superior. Call it Gichigami, Kitchi-Gami, Gitche Gummee, or just call it “the Lake.” Our unsalted sea isn’t only the largest freshwater lake in the world – it’s our calling card. Learn about the beaches, fishing and water activities that make for great times by the Great Lake.

Aerial Lift Bridge

Watching a 1,000-foot “Laker” roll past the Aerial Lift Bridge is a Duluth experience that could be bottled, trademarked and sold. Visit Canal Park’s official website to see the live canal cam and check times for arrival and departure.

Enger Tower

Want a bird’s-eye introduction to Duluth? The 80 feet of Enger Tower lead to 360-degree views of Lake Superior, St. Louis Bay and Duluth Harbor. Make the climb in the morning as the sun burns the mist off Lake Superior. Then venture down for a stroll in the Japanese garden at the base. It’s a great aesthetic.

Lakewalk

There’s no better place to get acquainted with Lake Superior than the 7-something miles of the Lakewalk. This boardwalk along the breakwater features pristine lake views and bonus points of interest. One highlight is the expertly manicured rose garden at Leif Erikson Park. For faster going, you can snag one of the electric bikes and scooters available for rent.
