SPOTLIGHT ON A MEMBER
Lori Steinbach and Lisa Sundberg, Visit Duluth
Visit Duluth’s Spotlight on a Member for June is Sams Florist and Greenhouses. Visit Duluth extends our appreciation to Georgiana Sams, for her response.
Green...Yellow...Purple...Red...Are colors of spring annuals filling Sams Greenhouses, providing fresh and beautiful plants to Duluth’s landscapes and gardens.
Sams Florist & Greenhouses is a family owned and operated business, located in the Duluth area since 1946. Georgiana Sams and her husband (son of the original owner), acquired the responsibilities and purchased the business thirty-two years ago, according to Georgiana.
“We are a “full service florist.” We ensure fast, friendly, and professional service to help you choose the right gift for any occasion. The Web site www.samsflorist.com, offers a wide variety of blooming and green plants, silks, gourmet baskets, and even impressive cut tropical bouquets. We specialize in weddings and funerals. Our experience in service, and effort to satisfy our clients, is our contribution, and as a result, has created many memorable moments of our areas special or significant occasions.
The Month of June has three holidays to celebrate! National Rose Month: June 1-30 (the entire month). – Why the rose? It dates back to the voyage of Christopher Columbus. It is said that while adrift in the Sargasso Sea, one of Columbus’ crewmen found a rose branch floating in the water. This sign of land rekindled Columbus’ spirit and gave him courage to continue his journey to the New World. Flag Day, June 14 (Originated in 1885) and Father’s Day on June 15, a day for honoring fathers and other men who act as father figures. Fathers, stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male friends receive cards, flowers and gifts on Fathers Day.
Here at Sams Florist, we enjoy getting out to Duluth’s events, fine dining, and attractions, whenever we have a chance. Being a member of Visit Duluth keeps us updated and informed on what’s happening in our city. We know Visit Duluth strives for the fast, friendly, and professional service, we are so fond of.”
Thank you, Sams Florist and Greenhouses for being our spotlight on a member.

CHRISTIAN MEETINGS & CONVENTIONS ASSOCIATION
The Christian Meetings & Conventions Association (CMCA) showcase was held in the Great Smokey Mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee in May. The show featured an equal ratio of meeting planners to suppliers and organized specific pairing events to enhance connections.
This was the second year Visit Duluth participated in this show as part of our expanded efforts in developing the religious market.
