NEW VISITDULUTH.COM WEB SITE LAUNCHED
Visit Duluth launched the next generation of its industry-acclaimed Web site, visitduluth.com. The redesigned Web site, the fourth generation of visitduluth.com, went live on Thursday, June 19.

With a number of critical developments, we expect the new Web site to continue its strong tradition:
  • Aesthetically, the site is a better reflection of visitors’ actual experiences in Duluth.
  • Duluth’s unique neighborhoods and regions are highlighted more.
  • Important promotions, such as “Hot Deals” and upcoming events, are more prominent.
  • The site’s navigation and organization are more intuitive for visitors.
  • Visit Duluth’s convention sales and group travel business – critical drivers of Duluth’s visitor economy – gained more prominence.

  • Visitduluth.com is Duluth’s only official online travel planning resource.

    SUMMER BROCHURE EXCHANGE
The third of four brochure exchanges will be held Thursday, July 24 from 2 pm-4 pm in the Visit Duluth conference room. If you have brochures, we would love to display them. Bring in your brochure and pick up other members’ brochures, as well as the Visitor Guide. We will distribute your brochures to the waterfront information center as well.

Snacks and beverages will be served. Hope to see you all there!

    SPOTLIGHT ON A MEMBER
Lori Steinbach and Lisa Sundberg, Visit Duluth

Visit Duluth’s Spotlight on a Member for July is the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center. Thank you to Thom Holden, Visitor Center Director, for answering our questions.

The Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center opened in September, 1973. This year the tourist attraction will celebrate their 35th anniversary.

“We are the hub of the waterfront access with shipping traffic, the Aerial Lift Bridge, lighthouses and lots of exhibits in the visitor center. These exhibits, historic and modern, include articles on display, scale ship models and information about ships, shipping and shipwrecks on Lake Superior.

Surely the Maritime Visitor Center’s free exhibits contribute to the success of the attraction. The Lake Superior Maritime Visitors Center is the “most visited attraction in Lake Superior Basin,” states Thom.

The Lake Superior Maritime Visitors Center also offers free admission to a variety of special programs for school and community groups throughout the summer.

Thom’s favorite past time is to “photograph local lighthouses at various times of the day and night throughout the seasons.” Although the lighthouses are relatively small, their character changes with the variation of light and time of day.

Thank you to the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, for being our spotlight on a member.
