SPOTLIGHT ON A MEMBER
Lori Steinbach and Lisa Sundberg, Visit Duluth

Visit Duluth’s Spotlight on a Member for April is Jet Set Babies.com. Visit Duluth extends our appreciation to Patty Opoien, co-owner, for her response.

Patty and her partner formed Jet Set Babies in February 2003. They came up with the idea on their weekly walks they enjoy on the Lakewalk. They brainstormed every Wednesday until fruition.

Jet Set Babies is a very unique business and when it started they did not have any competition, in fact they were the first online company to offer this service. Patty especially enjoys the correspondence from customers after their trips saying how helpful they were or just to say thanks.

One of the most memorable moments was when a very large package got lost on its way to Hawaii and Patty was able to persuade a worker at the visitor center to go to the store and buy all of the items that was in the original package. She then had it delivered to the hotel and her customer never knew. Jet Set Babies prides itself on going above and beyond. If they make a mistake, they make it right. The best advertising is doing a great job.

Patty joined Visit Duluth in May 2007. They are currently in the process of expanding their business.

Thank you, Jet Set Babies.com for being our spotlight on a member.

GROUP TOUR NEWS
Mary Nelson, Director of Packaged Travel, Visit Duluth

The Packaged Travel Department, in conjunction with several partners from around the Minnesota, participated in the Heritage Club Peer Group Conference. Preceding the conference, over 30 operators attended a familiarization tour featuring Duluth, St. Cloud, Fargo-Moorhead and the Twin Cities.

This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Duluth to bank club directors. Thanks to the assistance of Duluth’s group tour partners, it was a resounding success. Attendees were impressed with everything our destination has to offer and we look forward to booking many of these bank club groups in the future.

Please click on www.leisuregrouptravel.com and look under “Features – Minnesota Memories” to read the column about Duluth. This was done by a writer who toured Minnesota a few months ago.
