Watchable Wildlife

Duluth provides ample opportunity to catch a glimpse of some of the Northland’s diverse wildlife. More than 11,000 acres of open and wooded land within city limits and over 20 miles of hiking paths adorned with majestic forests, cascading waterfalls and breathtaking streams await you. Watchable Wildlife in every form-from the eagles at Hawk Ridge, to songbirds and shorebirds, to the bear and moose who occasionally find themselves right downtown. This is a city that blends with nature.

Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve
For one of the most commanding views of Lake Superior, take in Hawk Ridge - a bird- watcher's paradise. On Skyline Parkway overlooking Lester Park, this former Lake Superior shoreline is a popular bird-watching spot for spring and fall migration of many species of birds. Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve has been named a globally important birding area by the American Birding Conservancy.
