Bob Dylan Way
Duluth, MN 55802
Duluth is proud to be the birthplace of celebrated singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. Though his time in Duluth was brief - he moved to Hibbing, Minn. at the age of six -Dylan's artistic spirit lives on in our community's lively arts and cultural scene. In May 2006, the city of Duluth designated a cultural pathway in honor of Dylan's 65th birthday. The 1.8-mile Bob Dylan Way, marked with signage, winds through downtown, extending from Michigan Street at 5th Avenue West to 15th Avenue East and London Road. The drive follows Michigan Street, Superior Street and London Road (which leads to the "Highway 61 Revisted" of the album), linking some of our city's celebrated cultural assets, including the Depot and the old Armory. Fitger's Brewery Complex, located at 600 East Superior Street, houses a new exhibit about Bob Dylan. Stop by to learn more about this local legend.

Clayton-Jackson McGhie Memorial
Duluth, MN 55802
(218) 336-2990
"It is by remembering the injustice of our past that we learn to live with justice in the future." Likenesses of Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Isaac McGhie are enshrined by a solemn memorial in downtown Duluth, right at the intersection where, in 1920, they were victims of a lynch mob. Falsely accused of rape, the three young African- Americans were dragged from jail, tried on the street in front of 5,000-10,000 people, and then hanged in the chaos that ensued. It was perhaps the worst day in Duluth’s history, but the opening of this memorial in 2003 helps begin the healing of the wounds of our past. All are welcome to attend the Day of Remembrance observance held annually at the Memorial on June 15.

A tribute to all those who fought
and died, worked and waited.
Consider times when ordinary people are called on to do extraordinary things...a young farm boy takes to the sky in defense of our freedoms and makes his mark on the world...we take a stand on protecting democracy and our sons and daughters answer the call. These are the stories of our veterans-the people who have put their lives on hold to make sure we sleep safely under the blanket of Freedom.
