Happy Wednesday, folks! You may have heard we had quite the Nor’easter this week. Monday was a rough day with Lake Superior sharing her wrath. We had power outages, localized flooding, road closures, bridge closures, and lots and lots of wind. But we made it! There certainly is some damage to clean up, but all your favorite Duluth restaurants, hotels, attractions, and events are OPEN. We are NOT underwater! The reconstructed portion of the Lakewalk weathered the storm exactly as it was designed to. Other portions of the Lakewalk, still damaged from the other 4 storms we’ve had, were damaged further, but luckily no work was being done to reconstruct them just yet. That’s for next summer! If you’re visiting this week, don’t worry – Duluth is ready for you! Here’s a look at some of the fun, including lots of Halloween fun, you can find in Duluth this week:
Duluth Pack is hosting their annual Ladies Night Thursday, October 24 from 5:30-8pm. They are partnering with Wild State Cider and apparel partner PrAna for tastings and raffles! Get all the details in their Facebook Event.
Glensheen is getting spooky this weekend with the return of their 21+ Flashlight Tours! For two days only, paid guests will receive a branded Glensheen Flashlight Tour pint glass with a sippy cup cover. The cover allows you to bring your glass and alcoholic beverage INSIDE the mansion. The lights will be turned off in the mansion and each group is accompanied by two guides. This is NOT a tour for kids. Must be 21 or older. Head to Lincoln Park Saturday afternoon for some early Halloween fun during Shop & Treat, hosted by the Lincoln Park Business Group! Free Trick-or-Treating for kids will run from 1-3pm between 19th-21st Avenues on W Superior Street. Some shops will also be featuring deals and specials. Also Saturday, the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra is performing some of your favorite film scores during their Night at the Movies concert. Music will be featured from “The Producers,” “Frozen,” “Mary Poppins,” and “Star Wars.” Tickets are still available. Call their Box Office at 218-623-3776 or learn more on the DSSO website.
All aboard the North Shore Scenic Railroad’s Terror Train! This is an adults-only costume party which features a 3-hour excursion from the Depot, up the shore and back. There will be live music, a cash bar, and pizza! The train departs at 7pm Saturday. Get tickets, here.
And on Sunday, October 27 a favorite Halloween tradition continues - Scarium at the Aquarium! From 10am-3pm, bring your costumed kids to the Great Lakes Aquarium for all kinds of Halloween fun. Costumed children ages 12 and under are FREE with paid adult. Ticket prices can be found here.
