Our brilliant fall colors create a stunning backdrop for iconic landmarks like the shipping pier in Canal Park, marked by two historic lighthouses and the famous Aerial Lift Bridge. Stroll along the breathtaking shores of Lake Superior on the Lakewalk and visit beautiful Leif Erickson Park and the Rose Garden, or take a scenic drive up to the top of the Duluth skyline for panoramic views of the city from Enger Tower.

Fall trails for biking and hiking

Enjoy cool autumn days and view vibrant colors from one of our many trails throughout the city. From paved trails with access to dining and shopping to natural surface trails that wind through enchanting forests, there are endless opportunities to bike, hike, walk and explore. Plan a stop at one of Duluth's more than 130 city parks. Explore parks nestled in pristine forests, unique playgrounds, urban gardens, and beautiful parkland throughout the city. Plan a stop at Brighton Beach, located at the end of the Lakewalk, where you can take in stunning lake views.

Fall Train Tours in Duluth

Take a tour of the city - there are lots of options to explore! Plan an adventure on the water with a charter fishing trip, lake cruise, or kayak excursion. Climb aboard and ride the rails with a scenic train tour, or view the city from the sky with a plane or helicopter tour.

Lincoln Park Craft District

Head west to visit the St. Louis River area and explore the largest U.S. tributary to Lake Superior and the largest freshwater estuary in North America. While you're there, plan to stop by the Lincoln Park Craft District which has sprung up along West Superior Street. The area is quickly filling with artist’s spaces, retail, and restaurants.

Hawks Ridge

Birding is an ideal activity for exploring the outdoors while ensuring that you maintain social distancing to stay healthy and well, and Duluth is a premier bird-watching destination. During the fall, thousands of birds can be seen migrating past the Hawk’s Ridge just off of Skyline Parkway.
