Summer in Duluth
A small city with big personality situated on a Great Lake.
Summer is just around the corner, and now is the perfect time to plan your visit to beautiful Duluth, Minnesota. Located on the shores of spectacular Lake Superior, Duluth offers nearly endless opportunities to explore the outdoors, take in iconic sights and experience natural beauty in safety and comfort.
Standing on the pier on a warm Duluth day, there’s nothing quite like watching a 1,000-foot ship pass under the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge. The horn blasts, cawing gulls, rolling waves from Lake Superior – it all comes together to create a beautiful, picturesque introduction to our beautiful city. It’s a popular spot to start your getaway!
Be sure to enjoy the newly reconstructed Lakewalk while in Canal Park. Take the paved path along the lake and discover the Rose Garden in Leif Erikson Park. Your eyes (and nose!) will be amazed by over 3,000 rose bushes! Back in Canal Park, hop across the Lift Bridge to explore the world’s largest freshwater sandbar – Park Point. It’s the perfect spot for a beach day.
Be an Explorer
The Waabizheshikana or “The Marten Trail” (formerly Western Waterfront Trail) is another hiking and biking trail system you’ll want to explore, winding along the St. Louis River. Hiking to find a vista? As part of the Superior Hiking Trail, Ely’s Peak offers a highly-photographed overlook of the city. Enger Park also provides a view of the entire working harbor and lake. Explore more of Duluth’s 129 city parks.
Be an Adventurer
If you’re looking for thrills, take to the trails on two wheels – Duluth is a mountain biking destination and provides world-class single-track trails. Kayak on the river or enjoy an afternoon Charter Fishing on Lake Superior.
All that exploring will leave you hungry – luckily Duluth’s culinary scene won’t leave you wanting. Looking for rustic, inventive, or just simply flavorful dining options? Whether you’re a vegetarian, carnivore or locavore – we have it and you’ll love it. The Lincoln Park Craft District offers many local food options and is also home to several breweries and cideries. You’ll find distinctly Duluth gifts here, as well as throughout Duluth – at the Miller Hill Mall, Downtown, and in Canal Park.
If you’re looking to add a festival or event to your getaway, Duluth has a full summer schedule. On the harbor and just steps away from the world’s greatest lake, Bayfront Festival Park offers a music venue like none-other. Every weekend this summer you’ll find a music, food, or art festival taking over the park, along with that pleasant lake breeze.
This summer, escape to Duluth.
